We went  on a outing last month, to Wat Phnom ,one of the most important pagodas(a house of worship) in Phnom Penh. It was built on a man made hill in 1373,apparently because  the Mekong River had washed away other Buddha statues, after  the river  overflowed. Phnom Penh  derived its name from this Wat. It is one of many different wats found in the city. Many times a year the people come to make offerings here.
